The Shanghai History Museum will open in October as part of Shanghai government’s plan of building new cultural and sports facilities by the end of this year. The museum, which had no permanent site before, settles down at which Shanghai Art Museum formerly located on Nanjing West Road. It will open to the public on October 1st as planned.

作为政府力争在年底前完工的文体设施项目之一，上海历史博物馆即将在十月开门迎客。这座博物馆之前并无定所，目前在南京西路的上海美术馆原址安营扎寨，预计十一国庆节可以向公众开放。

Currently, the Shanghai History Museum reserves about 110,000 pieces of work in its collection. These works show Shanghai’s history of development from opening as a commercial port in 1843 to the establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. The collection includes calligraphy, paintings, ceramics, handicrafts and various publications.

目前，上海历史博物馆内已经拥有大约十一万件藏品，主要展现了上海从1843年开埠到1949年新中国成立这段时间的城市发展进程。藏品主要有书法作品、绘画、瓷器、手工艺品和各类出版物。

A hundred precious cultural relics collected by the British Museum are now on display at the Shanghai Museum for three months, from June 29th to October 8th. Selected from over eight million objects, these exhibits tell a history of the world covering over two million years.

从6月29日至10月8日的整整三个多月时间里，大英博物馆精心挑选的100件珍贵展品在上海博物馆展出。这些展品从八百多万件展品中“脱颖而出”，讲述了世界两百多万年的辉煌历史。
