克劳德·麦凯(1890-1948),美国黑人诗人，原籍牙买加。著有诗集《新罕布什尔之春》和《哈莱姆的暗影》等。他的诗风是传统的，但有较强的战斗性，是以现实主义态度抒写城市黑人生活和感情的第一位黑人诗人（也是第一位获艺术和科学学院奖的黑人），是哈莱姆文艺复兴运动的先驱和杰出代表。

I must not gaze at them although

Your eyes are dawning day;

I must not watch you as you go

Your sun-illumined way;

I hear but I must never heed

The fascinating note,

Which, fluting like a river reed,

Comes from your trembing throat;

I must not see upon your face
