2020 FDI rises 6.2%

In a year ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic, China has managed to overcome challenges and maintain its appeal to foreign investors, official data showed Wednesday.

2020年，在新冠肺炎疫情冲击的背景下，中国成功克服了各种挑战，并保持了对外国投资者的吸引力。

Foreign direct investment (FDI) into the Chinese mainland, in actual use, expanded 6.2% year-on-year to a record high of 999.98 billion yuan in 2020, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said. In US dollar terms, the inflow went up 4.5% year-on-year to 144.37 billion dollars.

商务部1月20日公布的数据显示，2020年全年实际使用外资9999.8亿元人民币，同比增长6.2% (折合1443.7亿美元，同比增长4.5%)。中国吸引外资实现逆势新高。

Foreign investment in the service sector came in at 776.8 billion yuan in 2020, up 13.9% year-on-year and accounting for 77.7% of the total.

其中，服务业实际使用外资7768亿元，增长13.9%，占比77.7%。

A total of 38,570 new overseas-funded enterprises were established last year, meaning an average of more than 100 firms set up every day.

全年新设立外商投资企业38570家，平均每天新设立100多家。

Major FDI sources also remained stable.

主要投资来源地保持稳定。

The top 15 countries and regions investing in China saw their investment expand 6.4% year-on-year, taking up 98% of the country's total FDI.

对华投资前15位国家和地区，投资增长6.4%，占比98%。

Among the major investors were the Netherlands and Britain, whose investment in China rose 47.6% and 30.7% year-on-year, respectively, MOC data showed.

荷兰、英国对华投资分别增长47.6%、30.7%。
