China's Foreign Ministry Says U.S. Ordered Abrupt Closure Of Houston Consulate

The US abruptly asked China to close its Consulate-General in Houston, Texas in 72 hours starting July 21, the Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed on Wednesday.
中国外交部周三证实，美国突然要求中国从7月21日起72小时内关闭美国驻德克萨斯州休斯敦总领馆。
The Chinese embassy in the US on Thursday strongly condemned Washington's request to close the Chinese Consulate-General in Houston, saying the move is a political provocation unilaterally initiated against China by the US side.
中国驻美国大使馆周四强烈谴责华盛顿方面要求关闭中国驻休斯顿总领事馆的要求，称此举是美方单方面针对中国发起的政治挑衅。
Noting that China is committed to the principle of non-interference in other countries' domestic affairs, the embassy refuted the US side's groundless accusation and urged the US to immediately withdraw its erroneous decision.
中方一贯坚持不干涉别国内政，驳斥了美方毫无根据的指责，敦促美方立即撤回错误决定。
According to the embassy, it is the US that has imposed unjustified restrictions on Chinese diplomatic personnel.
据大使馆称，是美国对中国外交人员实施了不合理的限制。
Cai Wei, Consul General of China in Houston, urged the US to "revoke the erroneous closing decision immediately," noting that otherwise, China will have to respond with legitimate and necessary actions.
中国驻休斯敦总领事蔡伟敦促美方立即撤销有关错误决定，否则，中方必将作出正当和必要反应。
Cai made the remarks in a joint interview with US media outlets on Wednesday.

He also refuted numerous lies about the Consulate-General from the US side, saying that repeating a lie a thousand times doesn't make it truth.
