Making an effort to invest in sustainable alternative, Prada will be replacing its virgin nylon with recyclable Econyl.

It is a project that has had the Italian brand turning plastics and fishing nets collected from the ocean into a series of brand new designer bags.

So far, Prada has applied this unique fabric to six of its unisex bags, including the belt bag, the shoulder bag, a tote bag, a duffle and two Prada backpacks.

Featuring Prada's signature triangular logo placard, I find myself drawn to the tote which you can grab for $1,550 and the duffle which is priced $1,790.

With the future of fashion leaning towards investing in sustainable alternatives, Prada is using Econyl a material developed by Aquafil.

The textile yarn producer has come up with a way to blend waste pulled from the ocean with textile waste, upcycling harmful pollutants into a useful fabric.

Aquafil maintains that the process it uses to make Econyl means the material can be recycled indefinitely, with no loss of quality.

Lastly, it is no secret that fashion is one of the planet's biggest polluters, so I applaud Prada for taking a meaningful step to reduce its negative impact on the environment.

I also like the fact that in an effort to close the loop, Prada and Econyl are encouraging users to return the product so they can turn it into an entirely new product.
