In the Kenwood neighborhood of Chevy Chase, Maryland, 1,200 Yoshino cherry trees lined the streets. The people, who live in this normally quiet community, enjoy sharing the pride of the neighborhood, says Dennis Potts who grew up here. "To see people's reaction to it and put them in such I think a positive place of really something that nature does. That is absolutely beautiful. That is something that you'll never forget."

The first cherry trees were planted in Kenwood in the 1920s, as a way to promote the new neighborhood to potential home buyers. Many more trees were added in the 1950s and 60s. "You knew spring arrived when the cherry blossoms were blooming. And so it was a real community event, people were outside, people were walking their dogs, people are having barbecues. I think the biggest change is probably the amount of people that are here. There are many more."

Families enjoy the beauty, people take selfies and others just relax. This boy is making a little money by selling homemade cookies to visitors. Some people come year after year to enjoy the flowers, which usually lasts a little more than a week. "It's a treasure for the entire DC metro area. And I consider this one of the best places to look at the cherry blossoms around here."

Visitors come from around the world to experience the blossoms for the first time, many are from Asia.

"It is amazing and it's so beautiful. And it's like a sea of the flowers."

"Very nice and especially a green grass and the flowers sort of enhance each other."

"Beautiful with quiet of peaceful. It's kind of quiet and not crowded."

The neighborhood bursts into bloom each spring. Thanks to the Kenwood homeowners who are responsible for the trees on their property.
