◆TRANSCRIPT

This is AP News Minute.

A group of bipartisan senators reached a deal on legislation to protect younger immigrants brought to the US from deportation. The group including Arizona republican Jeff Flake and Democrat Dick Durbin, has been working for months in hopes securing legislation to extend Obama-era protections known as DACA. The significance of their agreement was initially unclear, with White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders saying no deal had been reached and that the White House would keep working toward one.

Walmart says the company is closing 63 Sam's Club stores across the country. News of the closures came on the same day that Walmart announced that it would boost starting salaries for US workers to 11 dollars an hour and hand out one-time cash bonuses.

Hundreds of rescue workers are slogging through knee-deep ooze and using long poles to probe for bodies as they search for victims of the mudslides that slammed the Californian town of Montecito. 17 people are confirmed dead and 8 others are missing. And Oprah Winfery has released video of the devastation wreaked by the flash flooding which hit Montecito. The video shows Winfery describing the scene as she walks through a sea of mud.
