猴痘爆发
The Monkeypox Outbreak

TRANSCRIPT
The World Health Organization has stressed that the monkeypox outbreak has prompted it to declare a global health emergency is not linked to monkeys.
Following reports of a growing number of attacks on the primates in Brazil, a WHO spokeswoman said in Geneva that the recent explosion case is connected with close contact transmission between humans.
And despite its name, monkeys were not the main transmitters.
A new study suggests that 58 percent of human diseases have worsened because of climate change.
Researchers at the University of Hawaii at Manoa analyzed over 70,000 scientific papers to examine the link with known diseases since the fall of the Roman Empire.
They found that climate change is weakening our immune systems while germs are evolving to become stronger.
In what’s thought to be one of the largest-ever dog rescue efforts in the US, homes are being sought for 4,000 beagles that have been bred for drug experiments.
Animal rescue organizations are removing the dogs from a Virginia facility that’s been closed down for animal welfare violations.
The US Justice Department has sued the company involved.
The beagles are now being given medical examinations and vaccinations before being made available for adoption.
Kitty Block is the president of the Humane Society of the United States.
“4,000 is a big number and it’s gonna take 60 days to get all of these animals out and working with our shelter and rescue partners across the country to get these dogs into eventually into forever loving homes.”
And it’s emerged in Britain that hundreds of people involved in sham marriages in an attempt to remain permanently in the UK have not been prosecuted.
Nearly 400 sham marriages involving EU and non-EU nationals have been uncovered by the Home Office since 2018.
But the BBC has learned that only nine people have been prosecuted and four people have been removed.
