Among them, 825,000 are electricity vehicles, and the rest 193,000 are hybrid ones, said the Ministry of Public Security Traffic Bureau.

In order to better identify these vehicles, 76,000 green license plates exclusive to new energy cars were distributed by the MPS in five pilot cities in 2016. The exclusive license plates will cover all domestic cities by the first half of 2018, the MPS said.

The SAIC Roewe 550 is a mid-size car produced by Roewe in China and was launched at the 2008 Beijing Motor Show, with SAIC Roewe 550 PHEV being its plug-in hybrid version. Its 11.8kWh LiFePO4 battery packs delivers an all-electric range of 58 km. The car began to be sold at retail in November, 2013.
