l A massive fire engulfed the roof of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris as stunned residents and tourists looked on from the streets below. There were no early reports of deaths or injuries and officials say the origin of the fire is unknown, but the spire had been undergoing renovations.

 

l Severe weather swept through parts of the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic, damaging homes and businesses and causing injuries just hours after storms in the South killed at least 8 people.

 

l Attorney General William Barr is expected to make the Special Counsel's report on the Russia investigation public on Thursday. A spokeswoman at the Justice Department says the redacted version of the report would be sent to Congress and made available to the public.

 

l Kenya's Lawrence Cherono sprinted to victory in the 123rd running of the Boston Marathon. His winning time: 2 hours, 7 minutes and 57 seconds. Worknesh Degefa won the women's competition with a time of 2 hours, 23 minutes and 31 seconds.
