The American Academy of Pediatrics says 10% of US coronavirus cases are in children, up from 2% in April. It says the rates among children and teens are rising as schools reopen and activities like sports resume.
The Marine Corps says a fighter jet crashed in the remote California desert after colliding with another plane during in-flight refueling. The tanker plane landed safely. The fighter jet pilot ejected and also reached the ground safely.
A wildfire in Northern California's wine country has burned through more than 70 square miles. The fire has destroyed dozens of homes. Tens of thousands were ordered to evacuate.
