Depression rate reaches 2.1 percent

我国抑郁症患病率达2.1%

The prevalence rate of depression in China reached 2.1 percent last year, and that of anxiety disorders reached 4.98 percent, said an official with the National Health Commission (NHC) at a Wednesday press conference.

12月23日，国家卫健委疾控局局长常继乐在新闻发布会上表示，我国去年抑郁症患病率达2.1%，焦虑障碍患病率达4.98%。

The number of people with psychological problems and mental disorders in China is gradually increasing, said Chang Jile, head of the disease prevention and control bureau under the NHC, adding that the mental health problems of the public have become increasingly prominent.

常继乐表示，我国居民心理行为问题和精神障碍人群逐渐增加，民众心理健康问题日益凸显。

The country set up a national prevention and control center on mental health earlier this year to address related problems, Chang said.

今年上半年，国家专门成立国家心理健康和精神卫生防治中心，以解决相关问题。

China will strengthen the education of professionals in related areas, increase mental health awareness among the public, and pay more attention to vulnerable groups of people, Chang noted.

常继乐指出，我国将加强对相关领域专业人员的教育工作，提高公众心理健康意识，更加关注弱势群体。
