The Malaysian Institute for Medical Research has detected a new strain of the novel coronavirus, according to the country's Health Ministry director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The mutation, called D614G, was found in at least four confirmed cases in two clusters which are currently under control, said Noor Hisham Abdullah.
